SOUTHBURY BUSINESS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS
Creating a Profitable ‘Buzz’ for Your Company with PR/Publicity and Social Media Thursday, February 9th • 5:30 - 7:30 PM Prime Publishers, Inc. - 55 Heritage Road, Southbury
Reach beyond what you’ve done to date to promote, brand and market your business. Learn from public relations/publicity placement specialist, Barbara Branagan-Mitchell of Branagan Communications Consultants LLC in New Milford, and social media specialist, Mike Brooks of WebVance (formerly Offline Marketing Online) in Southbury, how to ‘harness the power’ of PR with social media to attract more profits to your company.
Learn how to engage your audience using Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media channels on a daily basis. Plus how to write and place with the media timely, newsworthy press releases and captioned photos that will help build awareness and create a ‘buzz’ around your business on a month-to-month basis. Multiply rapidly the impacts of your marketing and branding ambitions by issuing press releases, captioned photos, Facebook and Twitter postings, photos and videos.
Learn how to create a strategy that will combine both PR/publicity placement with the excitement and timeliness of social media. Build your network with social media tools by integrating your PR/publicity placement efforts with those tools. Boost your company’s brand and name with ‘calls to action’ and marketing messages with live discussions on Facebook and Twitter. Learn about the power and magic of the “Like” button on Facebook. See photos from your company’s activities in weekly and daily newspapers. Get people talking about your business – learn how to ‘create buzz’ and build that ‘buzz’ for more profits.
This informative February meeting will be hosted by Prime Publishers, Inc., publishers of Voices, Voices Weekender and Town Times newspapers, at 55 Heritage Road in Southbury. Food will be provided by New Morning Natural & Organics Provender in Woodbury and Heritage Hotel in Southbury for this annual culinary extravaganza. The night will feature a wine tasting hosted by several local vineyards, plus showcase the SBA’s March 3rd Chocolate Holiday, a fundraiser for the Audubon Center at Bent of the River, by offering a sneak preview of that event’s offerings of unique cuisines of Mexico. Come taste the warm flavors of Mexico and learn PR and social networking secrets that will help promote your business for greater success in 2012.

Welcome to the Southbury Business Association’s website, SouthburyBusiness.org. This site was designed to connect you with local businesses while providing information on what we are, who we are and what we do.
The SBA was established in 1968 in an effort to provide support to both small and large businesses located or doing business in Southbury. Meanwhile, member businesses have donated considerable time and money in order to give back to the community in which they prosper.
Most individuals are attracted to the SBA for opportunities to network, promote themselves, learn and grow. Dinner meetings are held each month from September through June. A number of breakfast and lunch programs also are held throughout the year.
There are other members who, besides growing their businesses, have a sincere interest in giving back to the community. The SBA provides an opportunity to serve on fundraising programs, such as the annual Southbury Fall Classic 10K Road Race and Wellness Fair, to benefit its Scholarship Fund as well as to benefit various charitable organizations.
Since 1990, the SBA has given over $200,000 in the form of college scholarships for Pomperaug High School graduates and donations to local, non-profit organizations such as the Southbury Volunteer Fire Department, Southbury Ambulance Association, Southbury Food Bank, Southbury Fuel Bank, the United Way, Animals for Life, Southbury-Middlebury Youth and Family Services, Safe Haven, Grad Nite and many others.
If you are interested in achieving your personal and business goals as well as serving your community, make it a priority to join us and get involved this year. If you are searching for goods and services in the Southbury area, please use the business directory pages of this site knowing that these businesses are dedicated to progress in business and to enhancing the Southbury community.
